History and Significance of the Maleny Agricultural Show
The Maleny Show has a rich history dating back a hundred years.
Over the years, it has grown in popularity and size, becoming one of the biggest events on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The show attracts thousands of visitors each year, from locals and tourists, all eager to experience the best of regional Queensland.
Things to enjoy at the Maleny Show
This year’s show offers something for everyone, with a fantastic mix of entertainment, activities, and attractions for all ages and interests.
A standout feature is always the animal displays and competitions. Visitors can get up close with a stunning array of animals—cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and pigs—while local farmers and breeders present their finest livestock in pursuit of ribbons and prizes. These animals remain displayed throughout the event, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy and learn.
Creative spirits will love the arts and crafts exhibitions, which showcase the incredible talent of local artists and makers. These displays offer inspiration and a sense of the region’s vibrant creative community.
And of course, you’ll find delicious food and drink across the showgrounds. Local produce and specialty goods are available at various stalls, providing a true taste of the area’s flavours and hospitality.
Livestock Categories
From horses and ponies to beef and dairy cattle, and even poultry, there’s a wide range of categories judged across the showgrounds.
Spectators can catch all the action at any of the four judging rings, which operate continuously throughout the day. These rings offer a great view of the competition and showcase top-quality animals.
Show Jumping is a crowd favourite. Exciting sessions run both days, including a special feature event on Friday evening.
The Maleny Show Society website provides all the necessary entry forms and detailed event schedules for anyone keen to compete in livestock or jumping events.
General & Pavilion Categories
There’s plenty more to see beyond the animals, with prizes and exhibitions across various creative and skill-based categories.
These include cut flowers, pot plants, and floral art, as well as photography, needlework, and traditional wood chopping displays. You’ll also find beautiful embroidery and tapestry work, farm produce entries, and delicious contributions in cooking, cake decorating, sweets, and preserves.
Handicrafts, woodwork, and even imaginative Lego creations are all part of the fun, and there’s a dedicated Junior Handicrafts section to showcase younger talent.

Entertainment
The 2025 Maleny Show is bursting with free entertainment and high-energy performances for all ages!
Dog enthusiasts will love Farmer Dave’s K9 Superwall and Temptation Alley—a thrilling blend of crowd-pleasing tricks and clever training techniques. For little dino fans, live dinosaurs and hands-on fossil digs will spark curiosity and keep the young ones busy all weekend long.
Want something different? Don’t miss the hilariously hands-on MEAT MAGIC SHOW, where Gwyn and Stan mix meat cutting, sausage-making, and cooking with a laugh-out-loud twist.
For a dose of adrenaline, ELJAY Freestyle Entertainment brings the heat with a mix of high-flying motorcycle and BMX stunts wrapped in choreographed comedy. Over at the main arena, Outback Jacks Stockmans Show by Paul Clarkson brings real Aussie stockman action to life.
Animal lovers are in for a treat too—with the ever-popular Animal Nursery, Precision Reptiles’ live snake shows, and the interactive D’Aguilar Wildlife exhibit featuring koalas, reptiles, and native mammals.
And for music fans, Country Star Search is back! Join Col Finley and his team as they hunt for Australia’s next big country music star.
Love is set to take centre stage at the maleny show 2025.
On Saturday, 31st May at 10:30am, showgoers are invited to witness a truly special moment as Meg and Matt tie the knot on the Entertainment Oval. The happy couple, who won the Free Wedding Competition, will become the first to be married during an Agricultural Show—a heartwarming first for the region.
The community is encouraged to attend the festivities, as the show celebrates not just tradition but love in its grandest form. It promises to be a highlight of the weekend and a beautiful reminder of what makes country shows unique.
The Maleny Show is a showcase of the best produce, livestock, and rural skills in the region. It is also an opportunity for visitors, especially children to learn about and appreciate our country’s agricultural heritage.
Sustainability Initiatives
In keeping with Maleny as a whole, the organizers have long been committed to reducing the environmental impact of the event. As such, the show will feature a range of sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives, such as reducing plastic waste and promoting recycling. Visitors are encouraged to support these initiatives by disposing of their waste responsibly and using recycling bins provided throughout the showgrounds.
Maleny Show day Parking
As with many major events, parking can be a hassle if you don’t have a plan. There is little on-street parking and that which is available usually means a considerable walk to the Showground.
By far the best solution is to take advantage of the 3 offsite parks arranged by the society.
Each is serviced by convenient shuttle buses running from 8am until late each day.

Maleny Historical Society on the corner of McCarthy Rd and Maleny-Landsborough Rd. For those driving in from Landsborough, this is on your left a few kilometers before the Maleny Township.
Maleny High School on the corner of Bunya St and Tallowwood St. (Turn off the main street opposite Maleny Primary School)
Hooper’s Farm 44 Tallowwood St (enter from McCarthy Rd, Bunya St or Centenary Drive).
Community and Cultural Significance
The Maleny Agricultural Show plays an important role in promoting community spirit and bringing locals and visitors together. It provides a platform for the community to celebrate their shared love of the region. And, it also offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about the local community and the unique character of Maleny.
It is no surprise that many of the attendees of the Maleny Show come back year after year. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and perfect for families. The variety of activities and exhibits mean there is likely to be something of interest for everyone. Adding the showbags, rides, animal nursery, entertainment and fireworks means the kids love it as well.

Tickets are available at the gate.
Single day passes are $15 for Adults, $10 for Pensioners & High School Students, and $5 for younger Children.
Two day passes are $25 for Adults, $20 for Pensioners & High School Students, and $10 for younger Children.
The Maleny Show Society
Maleny’s Agricultural Show is organized by the Maleny Show Society, a non-profit organization that was established in the late 1800s to promote the region’s agricultural and cultural heritage. The society is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who are passionate about preserving the region’s rural way of life and showcasing the latest developments in farming, craft, and art.
As the Glasshouse Country & Maleny News discovered, many of the Volunteers and their family members have been involved with the show for generations.
Volunteers and Organizers
The Show Society not only organise and promote the event. Its members and volunteers put in countless hours to ensure that it is a success, and their efforts do not go unnoticed. From setting up the stalls and exhibits, to organizing the competitions and entertainment. Volunteers also work throughout the event with ticketing, crowd control, and Logistics. They are the backbone of the show.
